On 24 April 1973 India got a supernova- Sachin Tendulkar. He is the hero of Indian cricket or rather we may call him God of cricket!!! The skyscraper of records by Sachin is unparalleled by other cricketer in the world. He is an icon for every cricket lover and every aspiring cricketer dreams of becoming Sachin Tendulkar. Once ace spinner Shane Warne said he is scared with the nightmare of hitting sixes on his balls.
Little Master is the greatest batsman ever. He is the leading run-scorer and century maker in both Test and One Day International cricket and that earned him the rank of the second greatest Test batsman only after Sir Donald Bradman, and second greatest one-day-international (ODI) batsman behind Viv Richards by Wisden. In 2010 Tendulkar is declared ICC cricketer of the year 2010 and presented Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy.
Government of India recognized efforts of Tendulkar. Sachin Tendulkar is now Group Captain Sachin Tendulkar since Indian Air force awarded him with honorary rank of Group Captain. He is the first sportsperson and the first personality without an aviation background to be awarded this rank.
Tendulkar played 2 Tests vs Bangladesh, 2 Tests and 2 ODI against South Africa in 2010. The aggressive batting earned him the nickname- Master Blaster.
Sachin Tendulkar in Test
Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar is a run machine whether in ODIs or in Tests and his extravaganza continued in 2010 also. This 37-year-old young lad has showed his brilliance again on third day of the second Test between India and Sri Lanka when he scored 48th century of his Test career in July 2010. With this Test he surpassed the record of former Australian captain Steve Waugh of playing the most number of matches (168). In October 2010, the saga continued with Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar hitting his Sixth Double Century on fourth day of Second test match versus Australia in Bangalore.
Sachin Tendulkar in ODI
On February 24, 2010 in an ODI against South Africa Sachin Tendulkar hit the bull’s eye and became the first man in the world to score double hundred in one-dayers with a single off Charl Langeveldt in the final over. He hit 25 fours in his inning which is another world record, and three sixes.
Tendulkar has always used variations in strokes.
Indian Premier League 2010
The icon Tendulkar is made the captain of Mumbai Indians team of Indian Premier League 20-20 in 2008.
In 2010 edition of Indian Premier League i.e. IPL3, Mumbai Indians reached the final of the tournament under his leadership. Tendulkar made 618 runs in 15 innings during the tournament, setting the benchmark of most runs in an IPL season. He was declared player of the tournament and got the orange cap for becoming the leading run scorer in the DLF IPL3 2010. He also won Best Captain awards at 2010 IPL Awards ceremony.
